LUCIAN BROSCĂȚEAN

Fashion projects are interwoven with cultural references to History of Art and Costume, an essential element being Aby Warburg’s “Bilderatlas Mnemosyne” (1924-1929). The contrast of black and white as non-colours, specific for the traditional attire from the Outskirts of Sibiu, the dark aesthetic of monastic garb, stills from the films of Ingmar Bergman and Yasujiro Ozu – are part of the moodboards, and implicitly of the story behind the clothes. Shapes declined from classic items are hybridized with geometric volumes.

Fashion design, artistic direction, curation, theatre & opera costumes, teaching – are creative extensions of the brand built by Lucian Broscățean.

With an experience of over 20 years in the fashion industry, Lucian has won several important awards and has participated at professional events such as: Romanian Fashion Week, Romanian Creative Week Iași, Romanian Design Week București, TIFF Cluj-Napoca, Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week, International Fashion Showcase la London Fashion Week, MQ Vienna Fashion Week, etc.

Between 2011-2017 he was the creative director of the irina schrotter brand.

From 2008 he teaches at UAD Cluj-Napoca, where he is now Head of the Fashion Department.

Lucian coordinates the Innovative Future Platform at Romanian Creative Week Iași, Ioana Ciolacu being the creative consultant of this section.

For the 2023 edition of Romanian Design Week Bucharest, he is the curator of the Fashion Category, next to Julian Roberts și Mari Bendeliani.
