Romanian Creative Week (RCW), the most important event dedicated to the Romanian creative industries, which will take place in the capital of Moldova from 19-28 May 2023, and the Romanian Order of Architects, Iasi branch, launch the first edition of the Architecture Festival “Iași opens its courtyards”.
The architecture competition within the festival, with prizes worth a total of 45,000 lei, is open to students and graduates in the field of Architecture, Art and Design, with at least one student architect or architect in the team. The architectural installations will be specially designed to be placed in harmony with the courtyards of outstanding historical monuments or buildings of prestigious architectural value in the city of Iași.
COMPETITION DETAILS
During the first edition of the RCW Architecture Festival, six courtyards will be improved, where the installations of the six winning projects will be installed. Each of these six projects will be awarded 7,500 lei.
Competitors must submit a project that includes a graphic and written presentation of the proposed architectural installation as well as a description of the idea, concept and construction details.

THE JURY IS COMPOSED OF:
Francoise Pamfil is an architect, editor, critic, teacher and theorist. Since 2009, she is Doctor in Architecture of the University of Architecture and Urbanism “Ion Mincu” in Bucharest. She holds two master’s degrees in architecture in the USA – University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and France – INEAA.
Marius Cătălin Moga studied architecture at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and graduated from the Ecole d’Architecture in Grenoble. He has worked for Planwerk, Cluj-Napoca and B.A.U., Cluj-Napoca. He participated in the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale.
Claudiu Toma is a graduate of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture in Timișoara, a master’s student of the same faculty, a graduate of the postgraduate course “Restoration of Surfaces” organized by UNESCO and the Faculty of Architecture Timișoara and a PhD in Architecture from the University of Architecture and Urbanism “Ion Mincu” in Bucharest.
Maria Bilașevschi is an art critic and curator from Iasi, interim president of the Union of Fine Artists, Iasi branch, PhD lecturer at the Pedagogy of Fine and Decorative Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts and Design, National University of Arts “George Enescu” Iasi.
Ioana Ciolacu is an architect graduated from the University of Architecture and Urbanism “Ion Mincu” in Bucharest. She studied at the University of Arts Bucharest, where she obtained a PhD, and at the London College of Fashion. She is a member of the RCW organising committee and is known for organising numerous fashion festivals.
